Another Diet Site. Why?

It’s a funny thing about diet sites on the internet. It seems like everywhere you look, there’s another one that you haven’t heard of. In many ways, they’re actually a lot like many of the fitness magazines out there. They exist to sell things. Whether it’s supplements that you can’t live without, or exercise equipment, meal plans, protein bars, energy drinks, new running shoes that mimic the way a leopard runs, the newest gym membership, DVDs to help you get ripped or any other number of potential profit makers, these sites all exist to push their product.

They are also very focused. Don’t get me wrong; there are really great sites that focus on a specific diet, supplement or exercise program. There are also some excellent books that cover subject matter in-depth. These absolutely have a place for anyone following these programs. I probably wouldn’t try the Dukan Diet without buying the book. I believe that the more you know about something the more likely you are to commit and follow through.

This site doesn’t strive to replace these important informational outlets.

Instead, the Diet Institute tries to give information to our community in a commonsense way about diets and all of the information surrounding the honorable goal of losing weight and living a healthier life. We encourage users to share their experiences with the community.

We also understand that not all bodies are the same. What works for one person may not work for another. As such, we try not to give absolute guidance in a one size fits all manner. There are exceptions. For example: When claims are made by the diet and dietary supplement industry that are simply ridiculous and in no way, shape or form backed up by science, research or even anecdotal experiences, we will in fact weigh in with our opinions on these “claims.”
